Shark Week or X-Games?

There is an issue this week that is dividing the Spinto Band. It comes in the form of two annual television events: Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" and ESPN's coverage of "X-Games". At the beginning we were all pretty excited for Shark Week (especially Jeff), but last night while eating the free popcorn at the Roost, we saw extreme Skateboarder Jake Brown fall from fifty feet in the air...In both regular and slow motion. Jon had already voiced his dissenting opinion of Shark Week earlier, but as a group, we're not sure we we stand. What do you think? Here are two representative videos to base your vote on.

I love how all that one dude can say after the fall is "I can't believe he did a 720".

shark week wins, hands down. i mean, roboshark was kind of lame and the visual of those two sharks banging each other will haunt me forever...but ultimately, shark week is pretty cooool.

why not combine the two? i'm thinking a ramp over a tank of live sharks. preferably really hungry sharks. what's more extreme than turning things into life-or-death situations?

x-games?? no effing wayyyyyy. granted i'm not a big fan of shark week, we haven't turned it off. ocean of fear was fucking brutal though, those actors were an embarassment. i hope they aren't proud of themselves...

That skateboarding video was insane, but I'd definitely go for Shark Week. That shark footage comes from Planet Earth, and on the DVD they show how frantic it was to get a shot like that without knowing where a shark would pop up next. But it came out beautiful, perfectly framed, like he wanted to be on camera.

I can't speak for either Shark Week or the X Games (I'm scared of the ocean...and falling), but if you haven't already, you should go down the street from The Roost, and go to the Bigfoot Lodge- with its strangely soothing red lighting and cabin-like interior, it's ike stepping into a Twin Peaks bar. Among my group of friends it's affectionately known as "The Black Lodge".
